Wagah (Punjabi: ਵਾਘਾ, Hindi: वाघा, Urdu: واہگہ) is the only road border crossing between Pakistan and India [1], and lies on the Grand Trunk Road between the cities of Lahore, Pakistan and Amritsar, India. Wagah itself is a village through which the controversial Radcliffe Line was drawn. The village was divided by independence in 1947. The Harmandir Sahib (or Hari Mandir) in Amritsar, Punjab, is the holiest shrine in Sikhism, which is commonly Known as the Golden Temple. It March 2005, it was officially renamed as Harmandir Sahib. This is a major pilgrimage destination for Sikhs from in all over the world and also an increasingly popular tourist attraction.

This Golden Temple is located at 217 kilometers northwest of state capital, Chandigarh and is 32 kilometres east of Lahore, Pakistan. It is very close to India’s western border with Pakistan. Read more »
